Encouraging Quasi-Experimental Evaluation Results:

 

Marzano Research conducted an independent evaluation of Lantern. Compelling results from this study demonstrate that Lantern is filling an important support role for caregivers.

  • 3-month language gain among low-income Lantern families compared to a control group

  • 56% increase in awareness of local resources from a Lantern community message

  • 97% of respondents are likely to recommend the program to a friend or family member

Stronger Outcomes for Under-Resourced Families

Based on disaggregating Lantern outcomes by subscriber demographics, we’ve found:

Hispanic and Black subscribers reported statistically significant stronger outcomes in terms of behavior engagement, connections, and confidence compared with white subscribers.

Lower-income subscribers (households earning less than $50K per year) also reported statistically significant stronger outcomes.

Net promoter score—a common customer satisfaction metric that asks “Considering your total experience with Lantern, how likely are you to recommend Lantern to a friend?”—was highest among Black, Hispanic and Native American subscribers.

Lantern’s Latest Impact By Program: BOND 95% said BOND messages helped them feel seen and understood as they navigated early parenthood. Learn More 96% said BOND messages inspired them to take at least 1 action, including: snuggling or spending quality time with their baby, taking time for self-care, or contacting a helpline. Lantern’s Latest Impact by Program: TALK 95% found the TALK messages helpful in navigating a speech or language delay. Learn More 69% said TALK messages inspired them to take at least 1 action, including contacting a healthcare provider, contacting early intervention in their state, or contacting a private speech-language pathologist. Lantern’s Latest Impact by Program: MEAL MEAL increased awareness of both local and federal food resources: 95% are more aware of local resources, 75% are more aware of federal resources.  Follow-up data showed a significant increase in the percentage of families receiving food and/or meal support from a Denver-based organization.
